Course Details
Find out what it is like to work in health and social care settings.
This course offers you the scope to study health and social care and some early years topics, giving you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in these career pathways, including:
Human life span development
Health and Social Care values
Healthy living
You will also undertake a research project.
Two units are assessed by formal examinations. You will undertake a work placement as part of the course. You will also study English and/or maths GCSE if you have not yet achieved Grade C/4.
Entry requirements
You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English, maths and science. Alternatively, a Level 1 qualification in a related subject and functional skills qualifications in English and maths at Level 2.
You will be interviewed and a place on the course is subject to a DBS check and a positive reference. We expect you to show an aptitude for working with vulnerable people in care settings
Your next steps...
You can progress to a Level 3 qualification should you achieve a merit or distinction, and the course entry requirements for English and Maths. Alternatively, you may progress into an apprenticeship or an entry level job with the Care sector.
